Blue Spirulina Smoothie

Blue spirulina smoothie, featuring coconut yogurt, mango, and pineapple, is a refreshing and naturally sweet drink that looks like a clear sky in a glass. It’s completely free of artificial colors and refined sugars, 100% vegan and dairy-free, and a tropical treat ready in just 5 minutes.

You’ve probably seen those amazing blue drinks on social media and wondered how to make them at home? This recipe will show you how. The secret to the vibrant blue color is blue spirulina powder, a nutrient-rich algae extract. But don’t worry, it doesn’t taste fishy.

To make your blue spirulina smoothie, simply coat the inside of a glass with coconut yogurt to create cute little clouds. Then, add a frozen banana, some tropical fruit, a splash of plant-based milk, a tablespoon of almond butter, and the blue spirulina to the blender. Blend the ingredients well until the mixture is thick and creamy, then pour it directly into a glass. It’s so easy and delicious!

Blue spirulina smoothie is a great summer drink to start a positive morning and is also great for breakfast and lunch. It’s healthy and packed with antioxidants, along with the vitamin C found in mango and pineapple.

Step 1: Cut the bananas into small pieces and freeze them for at least 20 minutes or overnight (for a thicker juice).

Step 2: Use the back of a spoon and spoon about half of the coconut yogurt onto the inside walls of a clear glass (This forms those fluffy clouds you see from the outside)

Step 3: Add the remaining yogurt, soy milk, frozen mango, frozen pineapple, almond butter, blue spirulina, and optional ice or sweetener to a blender.

Step 4: Mix the ingredients on high speed for 30 seconds to 1 minute, until the mixture is smooth (if the mixture is too thick, use the blender plunger to push the fruit down or add a little water).

Notes

My advice for achieving a thick foam is to make sure your coconut yogurt is thick. If you don't have soy milk, unsweetened oat or almond milk works excellently.
