These easy Father’s Day BBQ Chicken Sliders feature tender shredded chicken tossed in sweet barbecue sauce, layered with red onions and cheddar cheese on soft buns. Brushed with garlic butter and baked until golden, they are the perfect quick meal.
Ingredients
- 3 cups cooked chicken, shredded
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 12 count slider buns (rolls)
- 6 slices cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup red onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, mix the shredded chicken with the barbecue sauce until the chicken is completely coated. You can use store-bought grilled chicken to save a lot of time.
- Leave the small burger buns attached, then cut the entire package in half horizontally using a bread knife.
- Place the bottom half of the rolls in the prepared baking tray (oiled).
- Spread the BBQ chicken evenly over the bottom buns. Then, add the thinly sliced red onion on top of the chicken.
- Lay the cheddar cheese slices evenly over the chicken and onions. Then place the top half of the bread on top of the cheese.
- In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with the garlic powder, then spread this mixture on the surface of the bread.
- Cover the baking dish loosely with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for 5 more minutes, until the buns are lightly toasted and the cheese has melted. Serve warm and enjoy.
Notes
My advice to you for a healthier meal is to replace regular bread with whole wheat burger buns and use a low- or no-sugar barbecue sauce.
