Strawberry Margarita Recipe

This strawberry margarita recipe basically saved me on a ridiculously hot day last summer. I had a ton of strawberries I needed to use, and this is what happened. It’s now my official hot-weather drink. The best part, I think, is the balance between the sweet fruit and a real kick from the lime. Also, I have a thing I do with the glasses: I stick them in the freezer for about 15 minutes first. That frosty glass just hits different when it’s warm out.

What to Grab for This Strawberry Margarita Recipe

The list here is pretty simple, nothing too crazy. But if you can, try to use fresh limes instead of the bottled juice. It makes a world of difference, I swear.

  • About 2 cups of strawberries (frozen is totally fine, even better for a slushy texture)
  • The juice from about 4−5 limes (around 1/2 cup)
  • A good squeeze of agave nectar (1/4 cup is a good start, then adjust)
  • A little bit of orange juice, maybe 1/4 cup (it adds a little something extra)
  • A cup of sparkling water, make sure it’s cold
  • Lots of ice
  • For the rim: Coarse salt or just regular sugar
  • For Garnish: A couple of lime wedges or strawberry slices if you’re feeling fancy

How to Make a Strawberry Margarita (The Easy Way)

This whole thing comes together in minutes. It’s dangerously easy to make another one right after.

Step 1: Get Your Glasses Ready

Okay, the rim. I love a salty rim, but my friend swears by sugar. Your call. Just take a lime wedge you already squeezed and run it over the edge of the glass. Dip the wet rim onto a small plate of salt and give it a twist. Then, load the glass up with ice.

Step 2: Blend Everything Up

Toss the strawberries, lime juice, agave, and orange juice into your blender. Just blend it until it looks smooth. If it seems way too thick, add a little splash of water to get things moving. No need to be super precise here.

Step 3: Pour and Top with Fizz

This is how I do a strawberry margarita on the rocks recipe. Pour the blended stuff from the blender over the ice, leaving an inch or so of space at the top. Now, top it off with the cold sparkling water and watch it bubble up. Give it one slow stir with a spoon or a straw.

Step 4: Make It Pretty and Serve!

You can hang a lime wedge on the rim or float a piece of strawberry in there. Or don’t. The important part is drinking it while it’s fresh and cold.
